Olafur Eliasson

Artist,
Denmark

Olafur Eliasson (IS/DK), born 1967, is an artist living and working in Copenhagen and Berlin. His work spans from installation and sculpture to photography and film and has been exhibited worldwide in institutions such as MoMA, Tate Modern, and the Venice Biennale. Established in 1995, his Berlin studio consists of about seventy craftsmen, architects, and art historians. Eliasson’s latest project is the social business Little Sun, which produces wearable, solar-powered lamps. Recently, Olafur was involved in the development and design of a pedestrian-centered bridge in Copenhagen’s Harbour which brings people closer to the city’s water as a multi-purpose structure and meeting place. It is already serving as a metaphor for the creative re-thinking of urban spaces.
