Cecilia del Castillo

Executive Director, NWTF, Philippines Negros Women for Tomorrow Foundation Inc.,
Philippines

Dr. Cecilia D. del Castillo founded Negros Women for Tomorrow Foundation Inc. in 1984 and has been its Executive Director up to the present. She was instrumental in making NWTF one of the first Grameen replicators in the Philippines in the 1980s after she met Prof. Muhammad Yunus and studied the Grameen Methodology in Bangladesh.

She actively promoted microfinance in the Philippines, working to organize PhilNet, the precursor of the MCPI of which she was a board member for many years.

With Dr. del Castillo at the helm, NWTF remains to be one of the most pro-poor microfinance Institutions in the Philippines as supported by the Truelift Achiever Award it received in 2013, the first MFI in the Philippines to receive such an award in recognition of the high level integration of pro-poor principles in its operations.
