Mitsuru Izumo is the Founder and President of Euglena Co., Ltd., a pioneering biotechnology company leveraging the microalga Euglena to address malnutrition and environmental challenges. Inspired by a transformative visit to Bangladesh in 1998, Izumo founded Euglena Co., Ltd. in 2005 after achieving the world’s first successful commercial cultivation of Euglena. He also serves as the Honorable Chairman of Grameen Euglena in Bangladesh. A graduate of the University of Tokyo and the Price-Babson Program at Babson College, Izumo previously worked at the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi. He has  numerous honors, including Japan’s Prime Minister’s Awards for Entrepreneurship and SDG Promotion, and was named a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum. He is also a published author, policy advisor, part-time lecturer at the University of Tokyo, and member of Keidanren. Izumo exemplifies the fusion of innovation and impact, using science and business to promote global sustainability and social good.
