Sharifah Sofia is an Economist with an MSc in Development Management from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and a Master’s of Public Administration (MPA) from the School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA), Columbia University. During her graduate study at the LSE, Sharifah Sofia was an external consultant to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, examining methodologies to empower rural women in Ethiopia's agricultural sector. During her graduate study at SIPA, Sharifah Sofia led a research paper on prudential regulation and sustainable investment for the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN-DESA). Sharifah Sofia serves as a Trustee of the Albukhary Foundation and is responsible for driving its educational initiatives. She was a member of Albukhary International University’s Board of Governors and chaired its scholarship committee from 2018 to 2022. She has close to 8 years of work experience in the private sector, in the field of corporate finance, strategy, and private equity—both in Malaysia and Singapore. Sharifah Sofia belonged to the inaugural cohort of Southeast Asia Next-Gen Leaders at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore.
